Dr. Patel is originally from Jacksonville, Florida. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Miami with honors. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida. He then completed his internship in Pittsburg, PA. Being a loyal gators fan, he returned to the University of Florida for his ophthalmology residency. Under the guidance of David Schanzlin, M.D, and Stuart Brown, M.D he finished a cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the prestigious Shiley Eye Center at the University of California San Diego. He then pursued his dream of living in New York City. He worked with NY Laser Group and taught young physicians surgery at Cornell University. Dr. Patel is a board certified ophthalmic surgeon and fellowship trained in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery. Dr. Patel’s surgical interests include complicated cataract and anterior segment surgery, cornea transplants, and refractive surgery. His hobbies include running, traveling, and sports.
